The Fond du Lac Family YMCA welcomes new additions to leadership staff


The Fond du Lac Family YMCA welcomes Katie McCormick to their leadership team of the Y, as Director of Mission Advancement. McCormick started in her role at the Y on January 2, 2020.  She will be responsible for securing resources and support for philanthropic endeavors, to advance the YMCA’s mission.  McCormick spent the past 10 years working for the American Cancer Society focusing on community development and fundraising, which included organizing events that were held in Fond du Lac, Dodge County and the Greater Fox Valley.  She is a Fond du Lac native, a graduate from Winnebago Lutheran Academy and Wisconsin Lutheran College, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Communication.  McCormick looks forward to again serving the community of Fond du Lac, where she resides with her husband and two sons, spending time outside with her family, cooking or grilling out and enjoying their time together while cheering on the Packers, Brewers or Badgers.  “I am excited to be working at an organization that makes an impact on our community and has the ability to make positive change in the lives of so many, across all walks of life,” stated McCormick.

Heather Bell, who has been with the Y since June of 2019 as Membership Coordinator, was promoted in December to Member Engagement Director. Prior to her roles at the Y, Bell worked for a small company in Fond du Lac for almost 6 years as their bookkeeper and office manager. She has many years of customer service experience. Bell was born and raised in the Fond du Lac area, growing up in Brownsville, WI. When not at the YMCA, she spends time with her husband and two sons. They enjoy the outdoors and anything having to do with animals.  She is excited for her new role and looks forward to getting to know the Y members more. Bell states, “The Y has such a positive impact on our community it just draws you in and truly makes you feel great about the work you are doing. It gives you a great sense of belonging and a bigger love for your community.”

Lawson Bailey was recently hired as Aquatics Director to oversee the Aquatics Department and staff who lifeguard, teach water fitness classes and swim lessons.  He has worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor since he was 16.  Bailey has previous experience running multiple neighborhood water parks at the Wausau and Marathon County Parks and Recreation department, and held a previous role as Aquatics Supervisor at Grand Lodge Hotel and Waterpark as well as various roles at the YMCA of the Chippewa Valley, Woodson YMCA, and YMCA of Muncie.  Bailey is a recent graduate of Ball State University, where he studied Aquatics.  In his free time he likes to spend time with his twin brother and family.  Bailey states, “One thing I love about the Fond du Lac Family YMCA is seeing all of the collaborations in the community with different organizations, as well as the community impact the Fond du Lac Family YMCA truly has made.  The Y truly strengthens the community.”
