The Fond du Lac Family YMCA is pleased to announce Quad/Graphics as the sponsor of the new Family Swim for Life Program, designed for the entire family. The goal of this program is to have everyone in the family be comfortable and safe in the water by learning water skills together. During this quality family time, important basic lessons are taught including floating, treading water and swim strokes.
The importance of the Family Swim for Life Program cannot be understated: Drowning is the second leading cause of death for children between the ages of 5 and 14 years old, and drowning can happen nearly anytime or anywhere there is standing water.
“Quad is passionate about supporting the communities where our employees live and work,” said Joe Gitter, Plant Director for Quad/Graphics’ Lomira facility. “We are proud to partner with the Y to teach families a critical life skill like swimming, so they can be confident in and around water. This is a great opportunity to show our support for our greater community.”
“The Y is extremely thankful to Quad/Graphics for believing in the importance of this family water safety program,” said Jennie Mildebrandt, Aquatics and Family Director at the Y. “Quad/Graphics’ support will provide 24 families with the opportunity to feel confident and safe around water.”
