Fond du Lac Family YMCA Launches 2018 Annual Campaign to Support Community Needs

The Fond du Lac Family YMCA is launching its annual campaign on Saturday, April 14, 2018, to ensure that everyone in the Fond du Lac area has access to vital community programs and resources that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

We count on the generosity of our members and community to help people of all ages and from all walks of life, become more healthy, confident, connected and secure.

The Fond du Lac Family YMCA hopes to raise $230,000.  This year’s Annual Campaign leadership committee includes:  Chair –Kevin Michels, Michels Corp; Dr. Billy Mauthe, Mauthe & Associates,DDS; Dr. Karen Meyer, Agnesian HealthCare; Ryan Kamphuis, Bank of Oakfield; Loree Shady, Hometown Bank; Dean Jaber, Holiday Automotive; and Ross Stewart, Mercury Marine.

Funds raised will support various areas of impact including swim safety, financial assistance for memberships, chronic disease prevention programs, and LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA, a cancer survivor program.  These are just a few areas of need which the campaign raises funds for.  Last year, charitable gifts from YMCA donors made it possible for 90 cancer survivors to regain their health, for 1,983 kids to learn lifesaving water skills and for 1,200 kids and families be offered the same opportunities to learn, grow and thrive together, regardless of their ability to pay.

The Annual Campaign kick-off event, “Compete for a Cause”, will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 7:00 am.  The event will feature a personal challenge contest that will test participants’ strength, while in return, help strengthen the community.  Individuals will test their abilities at planks, wall sits, burpees, push-ups and pull-ups, for a chance to win prizes.

To participate, challenge cards are available beginning Friday, April 6th at the Y Welcome Center desk, for donations of $3 per challenge or a $10 donation will include participation in all five competitions.  Cards will also be available on event day.  “Compete for a Cause” is open to Y members or guests of the Y, and is the kick-off event to “My Y Week”, which culminates in the annual Fitness Class Fundraising Challenge, where group fitness classes compete to raise the most funds for the Y’s Annual Campaign, earning bragging rights along with banner recognition for a year.
