The Fond du Lac Family YMCA Active Older Adults is a popular group at the Y. Senior participants take group fitness classes together, share food, fun and fellowship with each other at the planned monthly “out to lunch” events, as well as participate in outings, book club, and other social events both at the Y and in the community. Not only do AOA participants stay active at the Y, they stay connected to the community and enjoy the social interactions that come with being a Y member.
The AOA group is very generous and graciously gives back to the Y. This year, during the Y’s Annual Campaign, the AOA group contributed $3,200 to support the Y’s causes. As a result, the group is recognized with a banner that will continue to hang in the YMCA hallway for a full year. This is the third year in a row that our AOA group has exceeded the $2,500 goal!
The YMCA Child Care Center children recently paid a visit to our Active Older Adults to thank them for giving back to the Y, which will help support programs for their youth development, such as the free swim lessons they all get to enjoy.
