Y offers Preschool Enrichment classes

YMCA Preschool Enrichment classes provide knowledge, character development, guidance and encouragement to help youth develop and realize their potential. Younger children participate with a parent, while older children take classes on their own.

“First Gym” parent/child classes are 30-minute classes are designed to enhance parallel playtime and introduce interaction with other children. Parents are expected to be active participants in class, guiding their child in the activities and explorations.  Classes include Super Tots, Toddler Art, Tots in Motion and Tots in the Kitchen and are for children ages 2-3.  “Moving Up” classes without a parent are 45-minute classes designed to help children learn to follow directions, play cooperatively, and enhance social skills. It is recommended that these children have had some prior experience in group settings or “First Gym” classes, and are ready to be apart from their parents.  Classes include Kids in Motion (age 3-5), Kids in the Kitchen (age 4-6), Kinderart (age 4-6) and Moving and Grooving (age 3-1/2-6).

Winter Session I session classes are 6 weeks, beginning January 4th.  Winter II session classes are 6 weeks, beginning February 22nd with no classes being held the week of March 21st.  Pre-registration is required.  Registration is at the Y Welcome Center desk or online.  More information can be found on the Preschool Enrichment page.

In addition to the Winter Sessions, the Y offers additional weekly program classes.  Weekly program classes are geared for preschoolers ages 3½-6 years old without a parent. Pre-registration is required. These classes may be purchased individually or if 5 classes are purchased the 6th class is free.  Classes are from 9:15-10:15 am on Wednesdays from January 6 – February 24 and on Thursdays from March 3 – April 7.  More information can be found on the Preschool Enrichment Weekly class page.
