FONDY Junior Football League 2007
5th & 6th Grade
8 GAME SEASON
Games on Saturdays
Start Date: Monday, August 7th 4:30pm @ YMCA (MANDATORY)
We will have 6 or possibly 7 teams with 20-25 players on each team. This will promote maximum participation on each team. It also requires a great deal of responsibility from each player to attend each practice and game (the first week of practice, prior to draft, is critical for league/team quality).
Practice / Equipment / Draft
Practice begins at 4:30pm, Monday, August 7th at the YMCA. This is the official start of practice. All players that want to play MUST BE PRESENT on this day. A parent/guardian must also be present as equipment will be fitted and an informational meeting will take place on equipment care, cleaning and fitting. Please refer to your calendar (given to you at registration) as to practice dates and times. The first two weeks will have more scheduled practices.
During the first two weeks of practice, all coaches will be coaching and working with players at a series of stations (offensive and defensive). They will then evaluate each player at the end of the week and each head coach along with one assistant will draft their players. The league goal, as it always has been, is to evenly distribute the kids among the 6-7 teams.
Coaches / Volunteers
The previous years have been a huge success due in large part to our volunteer coaches. A few may be returning this year, but certainly not enough. We need a minimum four coaches per team. Even if your time is limited, any time would be appreciated. A coaches meeting will take place at the YMCA on Saturday May 12th at 11:30am and Friday August 3rd. Attendance is required. Volunteers are also needed as team managers, chain gang, clock operators, concessions, and equipment hand out / turn in.
Registration / Fees
Registration and fee payment will be held at the YMCA on the following Saturdays:
MAY 5th & 12th @ 9:00am
Players will be measured and weighed. We recommend (not require) that your son or daughter weigh at least 70lbs. Those players at 120lbs. and over must play at only the best positions; offensive and defensive line.
Cost
$40 for YMCA Members, and $50 for non-members. There is also a $40 refundable equipment deposit. Your $40 will be refunded to you at the end of the season when all equipment is returned in good, clean, working condition. We want to give all those who want to play the opportunity, so with that in mind, there are limited financial sponsorships available to those that qualify.
