ELF-4K
In collaboration with the Fond du Lac Public Schools, the YMCA is able to offer a 4 year old Kindergarten program at no charge. Children who turn 4 years old by September 1 of the current school year, and resides within the school district may enroll in this district funded half day program. The class will follow the public school calendar.
This program is designed to help children develop the skills they will need to succeed in Kindergarten. Because this program is offered through the public school system additional services such as speech and language therapy, school psychologists and school nurses are available to your family.
Wrap Around Care
For families who might wish to enroll their child in the ELF program but need child care beyond the program hours each day, the YMCA is able to offer part time or full time care. Your weekly tuition is based upon the number of hours your child is in our care. During that time we will offer meals and/or snacks, swimming lessons, and the weekly gym classes that we offer to our fully enrolled preschool children.
Meet our 4K Teacher...
Robin Maramonte (a.k.a. Mrs. M) has been teaching Four Year Old Kindergarten in Fond du Lac since its inception in 2005. Prior to teaching 4K she taught preschool to 3 and 4 year olds. Mrs. Maramonte earned her BS in Early Childhood Education from Marian College. She enjoys working with young children and helping them develop a love for school. “I enjoy being able to give children a positive first experience in school.”
When she is not teaching Mrs. Maramonte enjoys spending time with her three children, reading, playing trivia games and watching professional sporting events.
Philosophy:
We provide a safe, play based, developmentally appropriate learning environment with the teacher serving as a guide and facilitator. Children are given opportunities to explore and manipulate the world around them as they develop socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. In this process parents are viewed as equal partners.
Learning:
Lessons are developed with the interest of the children in mind. Mrs. Maramonte makes sure all children are being challenge and are working at their developmental level.
General Info:
Class sizes average about 18 students with both a teacher and an instructional aide. The YMCA allows use of the gyms for gross motor development. We also visit the swimming pool as a class several times a year.
